What's In Season at Courtney's

Courtney's Menu and Produce

We support the farmers!
You can also support the farmers by buying direct from a true farmers market. Have you ever wondered what happens to the zucchini that is not perfect in shape? Or the bananas that are straight? Tonnes of good fresh food are wasted at the farmer’s expense.
What is more important, what the fruit or vegetable looks like or how long it has been in storage?
When we buy from the farmer we know what we get is picked fresh.

Courtney’s has taken the step towards using produce from within a 200km radius.  We are aiming at becoming a more sustainable restaurant. By using local & seasonal produce and looking for organic or bio-dynamic farmers. We are composting our waste & growing some of our own produce.

Other benefits for the farmer and us, is that by buying direct we are able to reuse the farmers packaging & boxes. We get better quality, fresh & ripe fruit & vegetables.
We source game, eggs and meats that are from animals that are raised outdoors in a natural environment. We look for animals that are not given growth promoting substances.

By buying direct we have reduced the number of hands the produce passes through, this affects age, price & transport (Before the produce went from the farmer to the market agent, then to wholesale distributor and finally to us, the restaurant). We are reducing our carbon footprint.
