Your wedding budget is an important factor in planning and making a successful day. You want to remember your wedding as the most wonderful day of your life, and not have to think about the debt following the day, because you didn't plan properly.
Firstly, find out who will be contributing to or paying for the wedding and how much they can afford. This would usually be someone in the family, the bride’s or groom’s parents.
Secondly, estimate how much you will be spending for each part of the wedding i.e the dress, the reception, the ceremony, the hire car, and invitations, etc. After you have written a list of these things down, gather together some quotes from varied sources and places to break down the actual amounts.
Prioritize what is most important, and what is not necessarily needed, this will help you decide what you want, and what you or the person who is paying, can afford.
Lastly, even though you’ve eliminated the less important things, you may still be well over the initial budget. A starting point would be the guest list, this would definitely minimise a big chunk of the costs, as the reception is probably the most costly part of your special day. Make sure to check which guests will be attending both the wedding and reception and which guests can only make it to the wedding.
Remember, planning a wedding is not easy, but with the ‘can-do’ attitude, you can pull it off and enjoy the most memorable day of your life.
